Blogmas

What Is Blogmas?

What is Blogmas and how can you participate?

Blogmas is a seasonal blogging challenge. It occurs every December and bloggers use this time to commit to publishing new blog posts.

Some bloggers will try to publish one new blog post a month for the entire month of December, while other bloggers may commit to a smaller number of blog posts, like one every other day or one a week during December.

There’s no right or wrong way to do Blogmas!

It’s similar to Blogtober, which happens every October. If you missed Blogtober this year, there’s still time to participate in Blogmas!

Blogmas Tips

Who Is Blogmas For?

Blogmas is for any blogger who wants to participate!

Participating in Blogmas is a great way to challenge yourself to publish more content on your blog — which is a key element of success for any blog!

But remember that quality is more important than quality.

You don’t have to use Blogmas to write and publish 31 new blog posts for your blog. In fact, you shouldn’t do this if you can’t dedicate the time and effort to make each of those blog posts a solid, detailed piece of content.

It’s actually better to commit to a smaller number of blog posts during Blogmas (for example, 10 blog posts) than churn out 31 blog posts just for the sake of it.

Since Blogmas occurs during December and the holiday season, a very busy time of year for many people, it’s a good way to prove to yourself that you can be intentional and commit to making time for blogging.

How to Participate

There’s no formal way to join Blogmas — anyone can participate!

That being said, there are Facebook groups, Twitter threads, and other social media groups you can join to connect with other bloggers during Blogmas.

Some people enjoy the community aspect of Blogmas and find it easier to stick to their goals if they have accountability with fellow bloggers.

However, it’s not necessary to join a Blogmas community.

You can also just commit to doing Blogmas on your own and set personal goals.

Blogmas Tips

Before you commit to participating in Blogmas, be sure to read these tips!

Determine a posting schedule in advance. Will you write a new blog post every day during December? Or maybe 25 new blog posts throughout the month? Or maybe just 5 or 10 new blog posts? Whatever posting cadence you decide on, go ahead and commit to it now so you’ll be prepared for Blogmas.

Plan your content in advance. Don’t wait until a few days before December to start planning your Blogmas content! In fact, it’s a good idea to start planning as early as October. Make a list of all the blog posts you plan to write. You can even start outlining your blog posts now to save time during Blogmas.

Batch create your content. During Blogmas, maximize your time so you don’t have to blog every single day. If you have a large chunk of time available (say, on a weekend) use it to knock out two or three blog posts.

Don’t be a perfectionist. Many bloggers get bogged down by perfectionism, but doing Blogmas is a great way to break this habit. Publishing more frequently forces you to write more and let go of perfectionism. Remember you can always update your blog posts later — but just go ahead and publish them now!

Connect with other bloggers. Blogmas can be a great way to connect with other bloggers in your niche and support one another on this blogging challenge. Join a social media group with other bloggers to stay motivated.
