Best Niches for Pinterest

What are the best niches for Pinterest?

If you want to start a blog, choosing a niche is very important.

Your niche is simply the topic (or topics) you blog about. Think fashion, travel, food, crafting, home decor, parenting, beauty, personal finance, and so on.

You can have a narrow niche blog that focuses on just one topic (like a knitting blog), or a multi-niche blog that focuses on several related topics (think a parenting blog about kids’ crafts and activities, kid-friendly recipes, and life hacks for busy parents.) Both types of blogs can be successful!

Pinterest can be a great source for getting traffic to your blog, but there are certain niches that do much better on Pinterest than others.

I’ve been using Pinterest to get traffic to my blogs for years now with this strategy, and I’ve grown some of my blogs to 75,000+ monthly pageviews from Pinterest — and that’s without having chosen the most Pinterest-friendly niches!

Let’s talk about the best niches for Pinterest!

Who Uses Pinterest?

First of all, before we get into the best niches for Pinterest, it’s important to understand who is using Pinterest (and how they use it) because that’s going to have a big impact on the types of niches that do well on the platform.

Pinterest has nearly 500 million users, and it’s steadily growing.

The vast majority (76.2%) of Pinterest users are female, and the main age demographic on Pinterest is women aged 25 to 34, at 28.5% of users.

Pinterest users view the platform as a “visual search engine” so highly visual niches tend to do the best on Pinterest. Additionally, 85% of users use Pinterest to find inspiration to start new projects, while 85% of users have also purchased something after seeing it on Pinterest. (That’s a huge amount!)

As you can tell, niches that are more popular with women tend to perform better on Pinterest. It’s also good that so many Pinterest users are in a buying mindset when browsing the platform, because this can lead to more income for you!

Pinterest-Friendly Blog Niches

Now let’s get into the best blog niches for Pinterest!

I’ve compiled this list based on data from Pinterest itself. Using Pinterest Analytics, you can see various “Interests” on the platform, and the niches below are taken exactly from the Interests as they are categorized by Pinterest. You can also see trending searches and the average search volume specific keywords get.

I’ve used all of this information to create the list below, which includes what I consider to be the six BEST niches for bloggers on Pinterest.

Let’s get into it!

What Niches DON’T Work for Pinterest?

Now that we’ve covered the best niches for Pinterest, let’s talk about what doesn’t work that well on Pinterest so you don’t waste your time.

Since Pinterest is primarily made up of female users, niches that are traditionally “male” don’t typically do as well. Think hunting, fishing, cars, and so on.

However, that’s NOT to say that all “male” interests won’t succeed on Pinterest. Certain topics like men’s fashion or DIY projects can do very well.

Another category that typically doesn’t perform as well on Pinterest is anything that’s more dense and information-heavy and not as visual.

This could be topics like business, real estate, technology, and finance.

Believe it or not, this is where Blogging Her Way falls. Although I do get most of my traffic from Pinterest, and it’s a good amount of traffic, I’m never going to get 100,000+ pageviews a month from Pinterest with my “blogging about blogging” content. It’s just not a very high-volume topic on Pinterest.

Again, that’s not to say these topics won’t work at all for Pinterest, but you typically won’t get as much traffic from Pinterest with these niches.
